ASHLYNN'S PERSPECTIVE:

HOW WE MET

Sheldon and I officially met at a young adults Bible study led by John Dabeck back in the fall of 2019. Every summer I would regularly attend volleyball, Bible study, game nights, and do my best to make holiday events throughout the year. We became acquaintances and friends as I did my best to be involved with the group while getting my education at Anderson University, SC - 2 to 3 hours away. 

We really became friends in the summer of 2021. One of my favorite first memories was when Sheldon would dance along with me at volleyball. One time he was the only person to dance with me to the Apache song. And after volleyball, he asked if anyone wanted to go to Wild Wings. A whole group of us went together and had fun conversing over dinner. Sheldon sat across from me and discussed swimming. After mentioning I lived on a lake, Sheldon said to expect him the following day to swim. I laughed and agreed, and he payed for my Wild Wings. He brought Chick-fil-a the next day, and we ate, kayaked and swam.

Around September of 2022, Sheldon asked me out on an official first date. We went to an escape room and grabbed tacos, bonding over music. Then he visited me in Anderson in October. He met my friends, and we all went to a corn maze together. I loved seeing how sweet and fun he was with my friends. Afterwards, Sheldon and I watched the movie "Smile". Several dates and coversations later, we decided to meet eachother's families and offically become a couple on November 11th, 2022.

Intentionally dating for several months, we knew we were ready for next steps. Sheldon proposed to me at the Riverbank's Zoo Garden July 22nd, 2023.
